Here's BCC's Chair Sarah Smith, with more details about the fundraiser.
Following relocation to the ground at Church Lane Woodford in 1997, we have been blessed with excellent cricketing facilities. However, in the last 5 years alone, we have seen more than 30 senior and many more junior home matches cancelled or abandoned due to wet weather creating unplayable ground conditions.
Cricketing opportunities have been reduced, promotion for our senior teams has been inhibited and our loyal fans have had less opportunities to watch cricket
So to improve the drainage, we have launched a Crowdfunding campaign and to make this a success we need your help.
Here's a few words from Richard Cragg, BCC's Head of Grounds.
A comprehensive review has been undertaken with drainage consultants and a plan has been drawn up to mitigate the problem. Some modest initial work has been undertaken to help with the 2021 season but the bulk of the work is expected to be completed at the end of this season.
As well as meeting the current problem, the project will provide some climate change mitigation.
The total project cost has been assessed at £30k and we are seeking to raise a minimum of £20k via Crowdfunding to compete the major part of the project.
We are grateful to the following local businesses and individuals who are supporting our crowdfunder.
