Bramhall’s 2nd XI lost the toss at
Church Lane on Saturday and were put into bat by visitors Timperley.
After a slow but steady start to their innings, including an opening stand of 40, Bramhall ground their way to 172-8 from their 50 overs allocation – Gavin Balderson top scoring with 41 on his return to the side.
After posting what they felt was a
competitive score, the hosts struck early and reduced the away side to 13-1.
However, a promising second wicket partnership of more than 70 runs began to
take the game away from Bramhall who failed to help themselves in putting 3
catches down. A late flurry of wickets wasn’t enough for the home side, being
too too little & too late as Timperley surpassed their target with 3 wickets
and 5 balls to spare.
There was a lot to be positive about and Bramhall will be looking to bounce back against Macclesfield this coming weekend as they aim to put some distance between themselves and the bottom of Division One.
