With the lighter evenings and hopefully warmer and drier weather and the cricket season nearly upon us, we turn our attention to getting Church Lane ready for the 2017 cricket season.
This weekend, Saturday April 1st and Sunday April 2nd, we have our annual pre-season working party – otherwise known as Natwest CricketForce – where we prepare the clubhouse, ground and equipment so we are ready to start playing outdoors as soon as possible.
Every member, be they senior or junior, is expected to give at least a couple of hours of their time between 9am and 4pm next weekend. We have more work to achieve than usual, so we all need to work as a team to get a variety of tasks done. We recommend you wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty, and you will be asked which jobs you’d like to help with when you arrive. Natwest have also provided the club with t-shirts, which will be available on a first come-first served basis.
If you are unable to attend at any point next weekend, please contact Richard Cragg on 01625 57609 , or email email@example.com to tell us when you are available to help over the next fortnight – weekday or weekend.
If all work goes to plan next weekend, and the weather continues to improve, the hope is for the outdoor nets (and possibly the outfield) to be available for use from Monday April 3rd onwards.
