The new club committee has been finding ways of making payment for membership subscriptions and payments at the bar easier for members. Many sports’ clubs have adopted an electronic payment system for paying subscriptions and allow debit card payments to be made for purchases at the club. The club committee has been considering a range of options and has decided to introduce shortly a secure online membership payment system called Webcollect. In addition, in the near future, debit card payments will be accepted for purchases at the club including sales from the bar.
Webcollect is a system used by many cricket clubs around the country and makes the collection of membership fees much easier and safer because it doesn’t accept cash and stores information securely. Members will receive an email informing them when the system is operational and will be expected to login and provide the necessary information and payment card details. All information provided can only be viewed by a few senior club officials including the club chairman, the club membership secretary, the club treasurer and the Junior Coordinator. The club’s data protection policy can be viewed on the club website.
As you know the club’s AGM in November approved 5% increases for all membership categories for 2017. While undertaking work to set up the new online payment system it became clear that we had in excess of 15 different membership categories and this made the online facility very difficult to establish. The club committee has carefully considered the range of membership categories and has judiciously amalgamated them to make the online system easier to navigate without causing significant increases in membership fees. You will shortly receive an email informing you that the Webcollect site is up and running and ready for you to use.
Please note that all members must pay their membership fee by the end of April at the latest. Any member not making payment by then will not be eligible for selection from 1 May.
The club takes its responsibility to safeguard its members very seriously. We are aware that some adults use the club facilities and are not members. This is in breach of the licensing and insurance requirements for a private members’ club. We are therefore asking all adults who use the club facilities regularly to become social members and any guests are signed in by a member. A book for this purpose will be available behind the bar. It will not be necessary for opposition players and spectators to sign in because they do not use our facilities regularly. In addition, we now expect all Junior members up to Under 18 to have an adult member linked to their membership. In order to reduce the financial impact of this on families, we have reduced the cost of social membership for up to two parents/carers. Please use the appropriate tab on the Webcollect site to register the social membership alongside any Under 18 membership category.
The club has a well-established, and occasionally used, hardship fund for existing members facing financial difficulties. If any member wishes to discuss access to this fund they should contact Frank Norris, the club’s Membership Secretary at email@example.com or 01612830285 in complete confidence.
